What is Areola Pigmentation?
Areola Pigmentation also commonly known as “nipple tattoo” is a form of tattooing typically done after breast reconstruction. For many woman this is the last step in their cancer journey. When they look down they will no longer feel the absence of what they once had and lost. Weather you had a single our double mastectomy we will discuss your vision in order to achieve your desired results. I use a variety of colors to mix and find the perfect match for you. Shading, highlighting, and contouring are used to create a realistic areola and nipple. Areola pigmentation is also a great option for women who have suffered unexpected fading or would like to even out the appearance of their breasts.
How soon can I have areola pigmentation done?
You will be eligible for areola pigmentation at least 5 months after reconstruction surgery. This will allows enough time for your breasts to heal, scars to mature, and for any settling to take place. If you are unsure if you are ready please consult your doctor prior. Booking can be done months in advance.
What happens during my session?
Before the treatment I will measure, shape, and outline the nipple area. Once you have approved the design I will apply topical numbing cream to ease the process. Natural colored pigments will be used throughout. The color will be bold and red for the first few days as you go through the healing stage. Once the scabs have fallen and the skin has healed the color will lighten about 30% and redness will diminish. It is recommended to go in for a touch up 6 weeks after initial session for the best results. This touch up is complimentary if you opt to have it done. You will be allowed to bring a family member or friend if desired.
How do I care for my new tattoo?
Once your session is over I will send you home with an after care kit and thorough instructions. In that kit you will find mild cleanser, natural tattoo healing ointment, cotton swabs, and Telfa pads. It is crucial that you follow instructions in order to prevent infection and have the best color retention.
