The Importance of Aftercare
The way you take care of your new brows determines how good the end result will look. Every person's skin is different and it will heal differently. It is important to listen to your skin and care for it properly. You simply cannot have a permanent makeup procedure done and not follow aftercare instructions. It'll be like it never happened, or worse; you could wind up with an infection. If you want long lasting natural looking results please read on for some tips.
After your procedure I will provide you with an aftercare kit that will help you care for your new brows. I will instruct you on how to care for them. If instructions are unclear or you have any questions post procedure, don’t be afraid to text me! I am here to guide you through the process. In your kit you will find antibacterial soap, Ora’s herbal tattoo ointment, cotton swabs, and Tagaderm Film. The soap should be used during the first day to clean off any lymph being secreted through the skin. You will then apply a very small amount of ointment with a cotton swab.
One thing most artists won’t tell you is how drastic the healing process is. Most uninformed clients will panic and try to fade their own eyebrows or even peel them off. All of this can be harmful to your skin and all the money you paid for you brows will be gone. Also make sure you schedule your procedure to be done with time to spare if you have a special event to attend. Like any surface injury, your brows will form scabs and turn dark. Eventually it will peal off and the color will fade. After a few days the color will start to come back. Once it does, your brows are healed. This is when you come in for a touch up and I will go over any strokes that faded and add new ones if necessary. Now that you understand the healing process, let me go over the aftercare instructions.
1st Day - Clean brows 1st time 30 to 40 minutes after procedure with water and the soap you have been provided with and pat dry. Use circular motions with the tip of your fingers. Apply a small amount of ointment right after. Repeat the cleaning process 4 more time during the first day (every 2 -3 hours). This will clean off any lymph from your fresh new brows. If you are a stomach sleeper, please use the tagaderm patch included in your kit.
Next 7 days - It is not necessary to wash the brows any longer after the first day. Please keep the eyebrows as dry as possible and avoid wetting them during the shower. Continue to apply ointment twice a day. It is no longer necessary if you have oily skin.
The aftercare is not that hard to follow, it is just a matter of staying committed to it.
Please remember to avoid sweating or direct sun exposure for 2 weeks. No laser treatments or tanning for 30 days, and no botox for 4 - 6 weeks. Avoid creams that contain retinol or retin until healing process is complete. DO NOT PEEL OFF SCABS OR SCRATCH EYEBROWS. Do not apply makeup around the eyebrows for the next week, You will be able to apply makeup directly on the eyebrows once healing process is complete.
