Is Lip Blush Right for You?
What is Lip Blush?
Lip blush is a very popular semi permanent procedure that gives you a pop of color as well as defining the contours of your lips. Lip Blush can correct asymmetry, create definition, and sometimes even camoflauge scars! Lip blush is not meant to create a solid bold lipstick look, but rather a soft matt natural lipstick look. Just apply your favorite lip moisturizer or gloss and go!
How is Lip Blush Done?
Similarly to Brow PMU, Lips are done by mapping, numbing, and using a small needle with pigment via a permanent makeup machine. Lips are very tender considering the structure of the skin is very different from anywhere else on our body. You can expect some swelling that usually subsises withing 24 hours. Unlike brows, Lips heal very fast! You will be done with scabbing in 3-5 days. Color is meant to lighten and be about 40% lighter and softer. You can expect a color “bloom” to occurr around 5-6 weeks and this will give you your healed results! We can schedule your complimentary touch up at 6-8 weeks and see how well you healed as well as make any changes you might desire.
Am I a Good Candidate for Lip Blush?
Unfortunately, not everyone is a good candidate for lip blush. Different lips can react differently with trauma and we have to be extremely careful. If you have darker lips or deal with hyperpigmentation/hypopigmentation it is best to hold off or go to a senior artist who specializes in dark lips. If you have dealt with cold sores in the past (even if it has been 20 years) you will need to consult with your physicial to prescribe antiviral medication. Once you have had a cold sore it goes dormant and can come back with a trigger such as a tattoo. By taking prescribed antiviral medication you lessen the chances of this happening. So yes, it is possible to have lip blush done but make sure you take the correct precautions. Just like with brows, you must be 18 or older to have this procedure done, not be pregnant or nursing (unless cleared by your doctor), and not have any allergies to alcohol or numbing agents. If you are not sure if you are a good candidate, please reach out and I will gladly help you out!
Can You Overline My Lips?
Unfortunately I am not able to overline your lips but that is not to say they can’t or won’t appear fuller. With age and other factors our lips tend to lose color towards the border as well as the contour of your cupids bow. The border between our lips and the rest of our skin is called the vermillion border. If you look very closely in the mirror you will be able to see it! Our lips have a different texture and do not contain sweat glands or hair like the rest of your skin. By examining that border most times we are able to bring back some of that color that is lost giving you fuller lips! The reason we do not want to go past the vermillion border is that in doing so we risk bad healed results. We would be dealing with two different skin structures giving two different results.
How do You Choose My Color?
If you have a favorite everyday go to lipstick, please bring it in! Make sure it is not a bold statement lipstick. Most lipcolors are categorized into one of three categories, Pinks, Nudes, and Peaches. This will help me find your base color. Then it is custom blended for you depending on intensity and undertone! At your touch up we can always intensify as well!
